Hello everyone. I am still working toward my license, and  find myself up against a bit of a road block. I thought I was doing a pretty good job of staying stable after exit; but found out this past weekend after jumping with one instructor, that my form's not so hot after all.  As soon as my instructor released me I started doing 360's and was unable to stop them on my own. I was able to get a second jump in, but continued to have the same problem. If any of you seasoned jumpers encountered a similar problem when you were new, or have any useful advice, I would appreciate hearing it.  Thanks.

I had the same problem during my student training. For me, my arms and legs were where they were supposed to be and my instructors couldn't figure out why I was spinning. I got Marshall to do a video for me and it showed that my hips weren't even. Next jump I fixed the problem and zoomed the rest of the way through student status.

I had the same problem but not everyone will be doing the same thing to cause a turn. On your next jump tell your instructor whats going on they will know what to look for. Maybe get video of the jump to get a better Idea of whats wrong.

Somewhere, some part of your body isn't symetrical.  Like Jeremy said, just because your arms and legs be positioned the same, your torso or hips may be tilted or something.  As they already suggested, having a video of your jump will give a better idea.

Thanks to all for the advice. I have a better idea what to work on.

Hey Lou,
We can go over some stuff on the ground that should hopefully help you achieve a good body position in the air.

Next time you're out I'll spend some time with you.

Cheers,

Franz
